Patrick Devaney

Actor | Writer | Director | Producer

Patrick started his film career in the opposite order than most do.  As just about everyone in the industry began as an actor who one day dreams of directing scenes, he started as a director from day one and worked backwards into the acting world, slowly becoming comfortable and well-known for both.

After the first season of “Zombie Hunters: City of the Dead” was complete, attention was turned to the science-fantasy film “Aemorraghe”, which eventually screened as an Official Selection in twenty-nine international film festivals across the globe (premiering at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in NY), bringing in eight awards including Best Production Design of 2014 at Macabre and Best Short Film at it’s London premiere.

Upon completion of Episode 9 and 10 of Zombie Hunters, and during the filming of Episodes 11 and 12, Patrick went on to co-write and co-direct ten episodes of the “Mastic PD” web series (with creative partner Lauren Loizidis). During filming of this series, he wrote and co- directed the short film “Slingspeare” (with Mark Boutros).

A few months later, he wrote and directed the moody sci-fi noir film “Impervia”, which debuted in January of 2017 once again at Macabre Faire (with TEN awards nominations at it’s premiere, winning four: Best Sound, Best Costumes, Best Cinematography, and Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy, The film also took Overall Audience Choice for Best Film).  “Impervia” has been accepted at over thirty international film festivals to date, with eleven award wins and sixteen other nominations.

Currently, Patrick just released his latest science-fantasy film “Identity Check”, starring Lauren Cover, Marc Abbott, Matthew J. Kaplan, and Heather Drew. It will premiere at the Queensworld Film Festival in NYC in March, 2020.

A poor, interracial family lives at the border of the wealthy city they used to be a part of. Barely surviving on their own, in the only house within hundreds of miles, they are confronted by the authorities of the new government and given significantly bad news. With 24 hours in which to make a decision, they are faced once again with the reality of their situation.

With nowhere to go, and no one to turn to, a choice must be made. But some choices carry a weight which may be too heavy to bear..

Trapped in a world where emotions are all but outlawed, one average citizen tries to find beauty, emotion, and companionship in her daily life. But when the pressure of that cold world weighs too heavily on her, she decides to go to the ‘Emotional Decontamination Chamber’ to have her undesired psychic refuse taken out.

But is this really the solution she thought it would be? Also, ultimately, is it too late for her to find solace in her own way?

This short film is based on the 1981 work of the same name by French artist CAZA, which appeared for the first time in the US in The December 1982 issue of Heavy Metal magazine. Filmed in NYC.

The one that started it all, the world’s very first broadcast Zombie-based television series, on the air continuously since 2007.

This long-running series shows a year in the life of a band of average citizens surviving the resurrection of the dead, corpses turned into moving carnivorous monsters.
